Fiji50 was a project to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Fiji’s independence in 2020. It was to be coordinated from London, near the Fiji High Commission to the UK and the Commonwealth Secretariat HQ. The aim of Fiji50 was to bring together a range of partners to mark this unique, once in a generation moment of our time, by demonstrating the contribution and the independent, forward-thinking spirit of the Fijian Diaspora. We would work in key cities and regions where the Fijian diaspora communities have settled. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic prevented most of the events from taking place.
